QUESTIONS ANSWERED
PACT has over 50 years of providing adventure holidays. It is non-profit making and has registered charity status.
The voluntary managing committee of teachers, parents, professionals and youth leaders are all Christians, and aim to give young people a memorable and enjoyable holiday with an insight into the Christian faith.
Q: Are the instructors suitably qualified?
A: Yes. We take our responsibilities of caring for your child very seriously. Our staff undergo training programmes prior to the holiday. We are licensed with the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority and fulfil their stringent requirements for leader qualifications and experience.
Q: How will my child get to the holiday?
A: We arrange transport from Berkhamsted and other centres depending on demand. 'Pick-ups' from other locations may sometimes be possible, and travel details will be issued by 30 June. All drivers are over 21 and have a current local authority driving qualification or better.
Q: What level of supervision is there? How are staff selected?
A: We normally have no more than four children to one staff member overall on the holiday. All new staff undergo a vetting process, in line with the 1989 Children Act. Special care is taken to ensure appropriate supervision is in place overnight.
Q: What is the Christian content of the week?
A: We aim to explain the Christian faith in a fun and relevant way through meetings and activities, which form part of the evening activity for everyone.
Q: What is included in the cost of the holiday?
A: Activities, accommodation and all food, all transport while on the holiday, and travel to and from Berkhamsted are all included. All safety equipment is included in the holiday cost.
Q: How about pocket money?
A: There will be a 'bank' at each centre, where money can be deposited and withdrawals can be made each day.
Q: What sort of food is provided?
A: Each holiday has a dedicated catering team providing freshly cooked, well balanced and tasty meals everyday. Special diets can be catered for if we are told in advance.
Q: Will my child be made to do a particular activity?
A: No. Each holiday will have a varied and exciting programme specially designed for the appropriate age group. Obviously we would encourage the learning of new skills, but also listen to, and act upon the concerns of each young person individually.
Q: How do I book?
A: We recommend early booking to secure your place. Click here for the booking form, or call us on 01442 870877.
Q: What happens if I need to cancel?
A: If you cancel before 30 June you forfeit your £40 deposit. After this, the whole cost of the holiday is payable.
Q: What if I have any other questions?
A: If you are unsure about anything or have a specific question, please ring us on 01442 870877 or email pact@activities.org.uk. We are there to help and welcome enquiries both before and after booking.
